Red and Black Fringed Brocade "Flapper" Dress
More on the "costumey" side than other dresses from "The Speakeasy Collection", this dress features a darted sheath bodice from res and black silk/rayon Asian brocade satin, with V-Neckline trimmed with self bias and bead/sequin Art Deco appliqué. The skirt is created by adding gussets at Center front, back, and sides, and trimmed with 6" black rayon fringe. Zig-zag design at hip is created with several rows of red and black 6" fringe, topped with black sequin trim.
Size is Large (modern dress size 14-16), and cannot be made again. The form shown wearing the dress measures 42" bust, 32" waist, and 42" hip. If you measure an inch or two within that, it should fit fine. It pulls on over the head, no zipper.
My days as a costume designer in Regional Theatre are now 25 years behind me, which means I've been doing contemporary and retro clothing design for a quarter century. About 7 years ago, a local Mardi Gras Krewe approached me about doing a runway show to raise money for charity. The theme was "Roaring 20's", which is a period I love for fashion. I said yes because I thought it would be fun, even though I knew the outfits would likely hang on my sale rack for years...the remaining 5 from the original 12 in what I named "The Speakeasy Collection" are now here on the "Boomerang" site. They can't be made again, and they only come in the size and color you see here. They are not previously worn, aside from the fashion show. Great for Theatre, cosplay, or even street wear with a period vibe.
